Perfect

So I had been using a Zildjian K Sweet Ride 21' and it didn't quite have the sound I was going for. The Groove ride is so similar but blows the sweet out of the water through a few subtle differences. it has this dark yet approachable wash to it and is really crashable while having a sizzling ride capability.

It has this perfect mystique and smoky darkness perfect for Funk and Latin Jazz while still being a great crash ride for any genre. I played it side by side with the sweet ride and found them to be so similar but the HHX just had the stanky edge to it, that indescribable essence. 10/10 would recommend.

One Stop Shop!

Here is my subjective analysis: The Groove ride covers all the bases, one cymbal can do it all at the same time. Great stick definition, cuts, bell is responive to both tip and stick shank and is clearly defind over the cymbal's wash. The was decays nicely and this has nice bite and shimmer. It will crash and I would dare say this could act as a 21" crash/ride. After a crash and you go back to sticking and bell the crash wash does not negate the bell or sticking definition. With a nice defined ride and crash, the unlathed bell is dry and cutting. This ride has many tonal zones and is a musical instrument on its own. Pitch-wise, to me, it falls in the middle, not too dark, but has a warmth to it. Not piercing, but it cuts! Love it. Thanks Dereck for the great service!

My Favorite Ride

You can"t go wrong with this ride. It"s extremely versatile. Works for a variety of styles. You can swing it, ride it, crash it, and more. The bell has lots of life, but it"s not overly piercing. And it records very well. One the best sounding rides of any brand.

My go to ride

I have a 21 k custom dark ride which is great for jazz gigs. i have a ping 21 that i love for my latin band. the HHX Groove ride works great for both. in fact i like it better for both. Go figure. Great cymbal, id give it a 5 star if the bell were a bit brighter but thats not what I got it for.

Sensitive enough to play dry and high, but big enough to drive through amplification.
