I've been using these sticks for years. I did the whole ProMark thing for a while, then I did the whole Vic Firth thing for a while, then I got to Vater and knew they were the best sticks for me. I play mostly rock, and these sticks are perfect for that. They're solid, powerful, well balanced, sound great, and last for a long time. Some say oak is better for hard hitters, but don't let them fool you. Hickory is by far the better wood, as its more flexible and less brittle, so it doesn't break at easily. It's also lighter, so you can have more speed and its compatible with softer genres like latin and jazz as well as rock and metal. It took a lot of trial and error before I found these, but these are the perfect sticks.
