Speed and Accuracy in an Affordable Pedal

Few pedals can match the Meinl TMSTCP Direct Drive Cajon Pedal for speed and accuracy — especially at this price. With little practice, even new drummers and acoustic guitarists will have no trouble pulling off doubles and complex rhythms, thanks to the TMSTCP's fluid drive mechanism. Its curved foot bar is engineered to fall in a natural playing position. And its adjustable tension spring allows for a custom playing experience. The Meinl Direct Drive Cajon Pedal includes a padded cradle mount to keep the pedal from slipping as you play. And, since there's no cable to break, the Meinl TMSTCP Direct Drive Cajon Pedal is built to outlast the competition. A soft beater is included to safely coax a smooth tone out of your cajon's soundboard.

Cajon not included

Fast, smooth action

Thanks to its direct-drive motion, the Meinl TMSTCP plays faster and smoother than most cajon pedals on the market. This makes it a more comfortable adjustment for trap set drummers who are just getting into playing the cajon, and a more natural timekeeper for acoustic musicians.

No cables to break

Another advantage of the Meinl TMSTCP's direct-drive action is there are no cables to break. This means you can play and travel with your pedal carefree — a feature which Sweetwater knows our gigging musician friends will appreciate.

Meinl TMSTCP Direct Drive Cajon Pedal Features:

  • Plays fast and accurately
  • No cables to break
  • Capable of doubles and complex rhythms with little practice
  • Soft beater safely coaxes warm bass tone out of your cajon
  • Curved pedal bar falls in a natural playing position
  • Padded cradle mount keeps pedal from slipping

Check assembly

So I am on my second cajon pedal from Meinl. The first one lasted a couple of years before a catastrophic fail during a gig. A fixed bolt in the linkage had sheared off. I purchased another and compared the assembly of both. The newer model is on the left and you can see if you zoom a bit the the vertical link is on the other side of the camber. I think the first pedal was assembled incorrectly and the resulting stress caused an eventual failure. It is a good pedal tho. I recommend it highly.

Capone pedal

Pedal works as advertised. It seems strongly built, and I assume it will last quite some time. I use it every Sunday in my church worship band. I would have given it five stars if it came with some sort of set up instructions. Once you figure out how to attach and adjust the pedal, it works well. I think the pedal could use one more setting for the toe kick, you have a choice of the pedal end be too high, which it shows in the picture of it which most would assume is the proper position, especially with no set up documentation, or almost flush which is a little low but much more comfortable to use.

Great pedal, not so great installation

Received the pedal in great time. If I could review just the pedal, I would give it a solid 4.5 stars. The actual pedal is functioning great, good response, great sound and exactly what I need for my particular rig.

Now, the installation. If I could review this, I would actually give it 2 stars, but I don't want to knock the actual review of the pedal itself. There about 3 things that I'm displeased with.

1. As 2 other reviews said, who ever assembled the pedal, assembled it backwards. The beater swings in the wrong direction to start. I even called the help line because I couldn't figure it out. The help line told me that they have not personally used the pedal and had no suggestion. Rather, sent me a YouTube link of a guy demonstrating the sound of the pedal. Which I had looked on YouTube for a how -to video prior to calling. There is nothing. I really feel that with an instruction manual, it would really eliminate the confusion to start with. Eventually though, I figured this out thanks to the 2 people that reviewed above mentioning the same thing. Note to future buyers, you have to use the key to loosen and rotate the spring that is connected to the foot bar in order to get the beater swinging in the right direction.

2. The harness is a good idea, though, not super efficient and could be improved. There is no grip for the pedal to attach to the harness. So, the pedal is sliding off of the harness where it's supposed to mount to. This is an easy fix, I'll just adhere a piece of rubber to where the pedal is supposed to clamp to and that should resolve the issue.

3. The pedal does not sit flush with the ground while being clamped to the harness. Probably another issue with the harness and it not sitting great on the cajon. My solution to fix this was to purchase a welcome mat or any carpet that had good thickness and place it under the base of the pedal to get it even with the clamp area. I've attached photos for visual understanding.

Like I mentioned, the pedal itself is functioning great. If the pedal were cheaper, I wouldn't mind the additional "fixes" I had to do. With it being $... I would have expected a little better construction on it.

Great Pedel

This pedel works great. When you set this pedal up make sure everything is tightly screwed in. Also this isn't a regular bass drum pedel so don't try to use it like one. If you mic your cajon and adjust the hammer to hit the sweet spot on your cajon. It works perfectly.

Excellent!

This pedal is great. It is easy to setup and play, and it makes my Cajon sound better than any kick drum I've ever had. Freeing up one hand has allowed me to recreate a drum kit with a small setup. I'm using a shaker with my right hand, playing the Cajon for a snare with my left hand, and using the pedal for the kick. Other times, I have been playing guitar while lightly tapping the pedal to accompany myself. I've put a foot cymbal on the beater a few times as well to add extra percussion.
