Dedicated Slate Drums Host w/ Touch Interface

The unmatched realism of Steven Slate Drums 5 comes to the stage in the Pearl Mimic Pro drum module. Access 60 world-class drum kits sampled in some of the finest studio spaces. Then blend each kick, snare, tom, and cymbal with session-recorded room mics, served in glorious 24-bit, for unheard-of realism from an electronic kit. The 7" color touchscreen eliminates clunky controls for fast, intuitive navigation through the Mimic Pro's powerful features. Onboard Burr Brown converters — one of the most respected names in the game — succeed in bringing each sample to life before it hits your ears. Sixteen ins and outs with triple- and dual-zone cymbal support cater to virtually any kit, while a 120GB SSD and SD/USB support keep samples fresh as you progress from gig to gig.

Powered by Steven Slate Drums 5

You read that right. The Pearl Mimic Pro is powered by the yet-unreleased Steven Slate Drums 5 library. And if you know producer & software guru Slate and the care he puts into every one of his drum libraries, you're already excited about this module. The Mimic Pro gives you instant access to 60 high-end drum kits recorded in some of the world's finest studio spaces, each captured with multiple industry-leading microphones and a laundry list of legendary outboard gear. The dry tone of each drum is preserved in each sample. But you can also blend in real overhead room microphones to taste. This is not simple reverb — this is lifelike ambience captured by actual room mics in real professional studios. It's all at your fingertips with the Pearl Mimic Pro.

Game-changing innovation

What Pearl and Slate have done in the Mimic Pro is something e-drummers have been asking for for decades. That is, they've integrated a real professional drum library into a compact, easy-to-use, live drum sampling solution. But that's only part of the story. The Mimic Pro is a complete reworking of the drum module as we know it. Here are just some of the highlights:

  • Onboard 120GB SSD — preloaded with 60 kits from the latest Steven Slate Drums
  • Color touchscreen — spend less time cycling and more time playing
  • Burr Brown converters — digital samples take on 3D realism
  • Low latency — drums respond in real time
  • Independent mixes — monitor yourself with FX, but send dry samples to your sound engineer
  • Multi-zone cymbals — take advantage of your cymbal's zone and choke technology
  • SD/USB connectivity — fly in your own one-shots in .WAV and .AIFF formats

Fast multi-touch interface

The Pearl Mimic Pro's fast touchscreen interface was made user-friendly for the stage. Gone are the cursors and endless menus of yesterday's modules. In their place is a full-color IPS touchscreen interface and single scroll wheel for quick navigation through the Mimic's kits and powerful options. Switching kits or swapping out the snare, crash, or floor tom of your preset favorites is possible on the fly.

Easy e-kit makeover

How would you like to bring last decade's electronic drums into the modern age? The Pearl Mimic Pro is compatible with triggers and pads from most major e-drum manufacturers* — including Pearl's own Tru Trac drumheads (not included). Pairing the Mimic Pro with even the most humble electronic kit or triggered acoustic drum will change the way you perform and record.

* The Mimic Pro does not support Roland's latest digital triggers, the PD-140DS and CY-18DR.

Reduced false/failed triggering

Light player? Heavy foot? The Pearl Mimic Pro eliminates false and failed triggering with advanced sensor technology. Adjust the sensitivity so that your lightest touches are felt. Then adjust the velocity to respond in kind. This gives the Pearl Mimic Pro a lifelike touch that Sweetwater knows even acoustic drummer will take to quickly.

Pearl Mimic Pro Drum Module Full Features:

  • A complete reworking of the standalone drum module
  • Beautifully integrated hardware and software
  • Responds naturally — no lag or triggering failures
  • Fast, intuitive 7" IPS multi-touch interface
  • Swap out kits and pieces in seconds
  • Includes 60 kits from the Steven Slate Drums 5 library
  • Recorded in pro studios at 24-bit using the best microphones, EQs, and compressors
  • Blend samples with overhead and room mics for lifelike realism
  • 16 ins & outs to accommodate even the largest kits
  • Supports dual- and triple-zone cymbals with choke features
  • Burr Brown converters bring digital samples to life
  • Assign independent monitor and send mixes, with or without FX
  • Adjustable velocity and trigger sensitivity
  • Fly in your own samples via SD card or USB
  • Module only; cables, pads, and triggers not included

"The Mimic Pro is a giant leap forward in drum module technology. It is a state-of-the-art touchscreen computer filled with the most detailed drum kits recorded in some of the best studios in the world. But you will not know its true power until you play it!" — Steven Slate

best freaking module ever.

Upgraded my ddti's to the pearl mimic and Holy cr@p what a difference!
It is incredibly immersive, sound quality is fantastic and the trigger adjustments and setting are very natural and easy to use.
If you have the option to buy this even if you have to sell your kidney or put your cat into prostitution freaking do it!!!

Excellent Drum Module

Purchased this to replace an aging drum module, specifically for the multiple output options that it has as well as the excellent drums sounds it was supposed to have. This is the main drum set for our church praise band, and it has been pretty awesome. We're still working through all the routing options and optimizing the setup for our system, but we love it so far.

It should be noted that outputs 1 and 2 are a dedicated drum mix (you cannot choose them as single output for a specific trigger), but the other outputs are available for that. There are some ways to work around that limitation, so it really is not much of an issue. Our sound guy has loved being able to have a dedicated line for the kick, snare, high-hat, and ride. And I think we will actually be running the drum in-ears through the module because of the flexibility it offers for managing what comes out of the headphone jack.

All in all, we're really enjoying the drum module. It's only been a few weeks and I know we still have some learning yet to do. If you need a drum module (especially if you already have a good electric set), this should definitely be an option you consider (at least in my mind).

Glad I made the right choice

The sounds in this module are the best, building your own kits is where it's at. There are enough quality sounds in this baby to build a kit for any style of music you play. All the bases are covered.

Audiophile Headphone Amp Performance!!!

I've had my Sweetwater Pearl Mimic Pro for about two years now love it. I recently purchased a high-end headphone DAC amp to drive my new Sennheiser HD-650 headphones for music-listening enjoyment. These phones are very hard to drive at 300 ohms. So, out of curiosity, I plugged them into the phones out of the Mimic Pro and played... Holy s**t!! The Mimic spanked the Sennheisers! I've been playing E-drums for 12 years and this is first time I felt like I was playing a real acoustic kit. My experience with pro gear phones-out performance has been that they all under-perform in some way but, not the Mimic. What a bonus to an already great unit! To complement this Mimic/HD-650 experience I powered a Bose B2 bass unit driven by a PackLite A1 Amp and a MOTU AVB UltraLite EQ'd to low pass below 120Hz. Since the HD-650's are open-back headphones you feel and hear the B2. The openness does let the cymbal strikes in but, the sound from the Mimic/HD-650 combo is so good it's easily tolerated. Maybe I'll look into the Zildjian Acoustic Electrics.

Best module ever!

This module is awesome. It is expensive, yes. But it's worth it.
Great sounds and features.
The very last module you will need. No need to replace it.
I've been using this module with a converted acoustic to electronic kit. Just perfect.
