9002 Series hardware

In the series, you'll find all the features those drummers and techs have been calling for, including memory locks on the tube joints and the base assembly, plastic tube insulators, infinitely adjustable toothless tilters, large reset handles, secondary tilter locks, cymbal space adjusters, heavy gauge tubing, and more. Patented features

Patented features like the free-floating rotor-drive system, rotating swivel spring and infinitely adjustable cam, are aligned to create a more direct transfer of energy that optimizes the stroke for more power and precision. DW 9002 Series Pedals feature an infinite adjustable cam, allowing the pedal to be easily set from Accelerator to Turbo Drive or anywhere in between. The Free-Floating Rotor drive system allows the shaft to turn independently of the rotor, directing energy from the pedal board straight to the beater. The design also uses friction-reducing ball bearings to optimize the already incredibly smooth, gravity-defying action.

Other unique features

The Floating Swivel Spring that increases efficiency on the down stroke and return stroke, creating less resistance and an incredibly smooth feel. 9000 Series Bass Drum Pedals include a Nylon Strap and can be easily converted from Chain-Drive to Nylon Strap. The Single Post Casting design provides ease of movement between the pedal and hi-hat, letting you play the pedals independently or simultaneously.

Dw 9000 double bass pedal

This pedal is sick

Upped my star rating.

I previously wrote a review and gave the 9002 pedal 4 stars. I thought about it and want to change it 5. It is an amazing pedal. I just bought a 5002 double pedal for my traveling Sonor kit. Honestly, now that I have both pedals, I would never spend the extra money on the 9002 pedal. The 5002 feels pretty much exactly the same. So unless your an incredibly hard banger and break pedals, I would recommend the 5002 over the 9002. If you need an indestructable pedal, get the 9002.

So nice ...

Had the 3000 double pedal and enjoyed it a lot. Learned many different techniques on it. When I finally got the 9000 series, it was like butter. No effort what so ever to bang out those quick doubles. From the slide and heel toe, its effortless and worth the money.

There's a reason why these commands a high price.

A lengthy read, but this will tell you why these will help your playing if you are already a good player.

I have been playing drums for going on 40 years and the one thing that I always ignored was the bass drum pedal(s). Well, not ignored but when I upgraded to the best I could get, the pedal was the last thing to consider. It was always "sound first". A new snare, a new cymbal, a new drum-set. You get the idea.

Using a variety of pedals over the years, the one I had the longest was the DW3000 and it got me through some serious powerhouse shows over the years. Whenever I played a 7000 or a good direct drive I couldn't believe how smooth it was. So, I finally made a choice to buy a DW9000.

I'm seriously glad I did and here's why.

The pedal is almost not there. What I mean is that in similar terms like that of a good bicycle that sort of "disappears" beneath you because it's such a finely tuned machine.

The same thing happens here.
It takes some time to get used to the idea of a pedal being effortless to play, but once you get used to them put your old pedals on your bass drum and you'll understand what I mean. You just don't to have to work as hard to get the same result.

One thing I must mention that I am still working on myself is that the beater springs are located on the inside of the frame and if your foot technique is not optimized, you'll hit the spring with the toe of your shoe from time to time.
This is a technique issue and it shined a nasty light on my playing habits. Being effortless to play, you can ease off the pedal board and play in the center of the board thereby avoiding hitting the springs.
Again, this was a habit picked up from pedals that didn't respond as well as these do.

There is no negative about these pedals. The springs on the inside are something I know I have to work on. Everything else adds up to an incredible piece of mechanical engineering that feels like the best pair of shoes you own.

Don't be like me and wait so long to spend real money on great drum pedals if you are an accomplished player, just don't buy them to MAKE you a great drummer. These are your reward for the hard work you've done.

Best pedal I've ever played

I played a USA made DW 5000 single chain double for the past 10 years and purchased a new DW 3000 double pedal one year ago. I just purchased the DW 9000 double pedal this month. I felt the 3000 was a huge upgrade from my old 5000 because the drive shaft on the 5000 was worn out. I have two kits set up and I wanted something better than the 3000. I was debating between the 9 and the 5 and read a ton of reviews. What I ended up doing was purchasing the 9 and replaced the drive shaft with a Trick DW retrofit which I read was far superior and sturdier than the DW. Boy am I happy I chose the 9000. I play heel down which is just how I learned and have been playing that way for the past 20 plus years. Out of the box I had to make some adjustments to get it to feel the way I wanted. I decreased the spring tension quite a lot on both pedals and slid the cam chain all the way toward the bass drum. Holy moly. My left shin used to cramp when I played double with my previous pedals and now no cramp. These pedals are gorgeous and just flow with the slightest touch of my toe. I couldn't be happier with this purchase and highly recommend them to anyone who wants to up their game without years of practice. Im sure these will last a lifetime. Thank you Sweetwater for the awesome Black Friday deal and the amazing customer service!
