I give it a 4.5 Star Value

For some reason when I was researching compact kits the Tama Pancake kit didn't appear on SW. I may have purchased that kit instead OR may buy in Addition to this kit. For someone looking for a club or traveling kit vs. just a kit for the kid, the Tama is a better choice assuming you have your own cymbals and hardware which is most likely the case. Having said that, except for the cymbals, the QUESTLOVE is a great deal and the cymbals will be ok for a beginning drummer. I actually prefer the flat black hardware, especially with the red shells. The kit is compact enough it fits nicely in a corner of the living room. The only sketchy thing in total is the supplied Kick does not firmly attach even with supplied rubber guard (or otherwise). Meaning you move the Kick drum and the pedal will just roll right off it. Weird they didn't get that right.
Bottom Line: for the price you get everything you need to start right in the box, and the drums themselves have a solid sound.

Wish my first set was this nice!

These are great drums, quality heads, even the cymbals are decent. That's a far stretch from my first set.

I bought these for my nephew, 7. My sister is adopting, and he has been playing on a really small set for two years. With the pandemic, she's home schooling him. She wants music to be a part of his lessons and asked if I would help him on drums. So, I sold a guitar, and bought him these. He's been jamming like crazy, since I set them up for him.

They come with some lessons online. Pedals, stools, cymbals included. You can't ask for more. I've been getting videos of him playing and learning to keep time already. I figure these are quality enough to last him awhile, too.

Thanks to Tyler Moore for helping get this done. He's the best salesman at a music store that I've ever had. Sweetwater's free shipping is great, too. Very fast.

Definitely worth it

I'm a multi-instrumentalist and I've been wanting ti get my drumming skills better. I got tired of looking for a good deal on a used set, and I don't have much space at my house. So my buddy showed these to me, I bought them and then realized they were a kid's set. I'm 5'8 and 180 lbs, and I play behind them just fine. They're perfect for my house. And they're fun! And that's what matters, and I'm getting better with them. If I had any criticism, the heads definitely will need to be replaced. And the cymbals are of good enough quality to get you started, but they don't sound too good and I would highly recommend changing those too.

For the money and quality. I highly recommend these for a player of ANY LEVEL!!
