Yamaha Hi Hat stand

The box showed up in great condition. Set up was easy. I'm using this with a TD-30 Roland drum set and it works like a charm.

A great balance of quality, features, and price

After 75+ hrs of practice on this stand I can definitely give it a thumbs up. The tension adjustment is a nice touch, feathering and splashing with it is so much easier than my last stand. Build quality is solid as you'd expect from Yamaha. Only gripe I have is that, at least for me, it takes a little more pressure than I'm used to to get a totally closed hat sound. Very minor. Love this stand, I'm glad I made the switch.

Good Stand

I wanted a light weight, easy to use hi hat stand for gigging. Over the years I've used Tama Iron Cobra and DW 5000 hi hat stands. While both of those are outstanding stands, they weigh a ton. I have recently switched out all my cymbal stands, except my ride stand to light weight single braced stands, as well as my snare stand, and they really lightened up my hardware bag. The only heavy stand I had left was my hi hat stand. I decided to get this Yamaha stand because it offered the options I needed and looked to be sturdy and light weight. Well, I received the stand and it's exactly what I wanted. It is easy to set up and tear down, the action is very smooth, and the legs are rotatable. I also like the tension adjuster (this is what sold me on this stand vs another brand I was considering). The only short coming is the rod. It is a bit shorter than other stands I have. It gets the cymbals up high enough for me, but if you like your hats really high, this might not be the stand for you....or you might need to swap the rod out for something longer.

Over all a great stand if you're looking for something sturdy and light weight.

Not good for Strike Pro

All in all it's a solid stand and works well, but a couple observations. The base does not extend our very wide and make for a little less stability than my old Tama Swingstar stand. The most disappointing part is the clutch/tip mount. It's far to short to use with the Alesis Strike Pro.
