KD 9 upgrade

If being on a tight budget trying to decide on either upgrading to a TD 50 KV , X or what ever
Upgrading my existing TD 11 KV were the more affordable most realistic option

As I had all but worn out my Kd 9 bass drum , which may have been partially been accelerated due to having only realised after from having used felt beaters instead of plastic , to the point of loosing complete feel as well as initiative to give such potential to want to inspire

I were fortunate enough to come by one of these second hand and a little worse for wear which involved having to internally disassemble and give a general clean , & replace the mesh head which were ripped anyways , I had intended to replace the foam trigger cone adhered to the elpitzo or trigger itself but since there were none in stock for this genuine replacement part or were even available to get thought I'd try my luck first at just giving it a shot at cleaning the foam cone itself with a clean warm damp slightly soapy cloth & then again dry & then the same again with just a warm damp cloth being careful not to let any liquids spill down further into any potential electronics or the sensor itself below

I were quite surprised to see the amount of dirty the foam were after having done such I then sprayed the trigger foam with some inox or water based silicon lubricant and reassembled and a presto
As good as it could ever be

Triggering were instant in comparison to how it were previously

I really like how this pad sits as well as feels even in comparison to an acoustic and I think is the first kit ever I have had were the bass drum don't creep away from you or have to adjust and chase around to room when playing

I were actually planning to buy this new but as previously mentioned it were just by shear luck I had happened to come by one one auction around that very same time in the end it still would had cost me all up about a third of the price of a new one plus my own time spent having to maintain

Don't let price scare you

This is well worth the money, feel, response from pedal, very smooth and quick. You need to learn to hold back with this kick and not hit hard,,you don't need to hit it hard, it's incredibly responsive, light touch goes along way. It's really effortless to use. This replaced my Roland KD-8, you'll be happy the 1st second you use this new kick. Highly recommend it.

Awesome, no regrets

Yeah Roland stuff is pricey but if you use a Roland TD-50 or 30 this is a no brainier. First it is heavy ,built like a tank, very solid. The thing is with Rolands new prismatic sound engine you really get an experience that has to be played to be believed. once you get it dialed in , game over. I am not made of money by no means but 48 months to pay makes this very do able. Just ask yourself if you are worth it. I purchased a TD-50 last December along with Roland's digital ride and enough RT-30 trigger to convert my Traps flat shell kit into an edrum kit. I first used remo silent stroke mesh heads, but switched to Drum tec real feel mesh heads. this was cool but not particularly exciting. I feltt like everyone was saying this is not that happening for the dough, and then I picked up the Roland Digital Snare and I was like " now I get it complete game changer.
I did not even hesitate and ordered the KD-140. I just ordered 3 Roland toms . If you read reviews to get insight before making a purchase and you have any of the high end Roland drum modules and looking for a serious upgrade you can't go wrong. The KD-140 is so solid it does not budge and looks great and when you get it dialed in you will be late for work. And if you use Superior Drummer or any drum software the performance is almost supernatural, touch, feel, sensitivity, are extraordinary.I first had regrets as this is a lot of dough( for the TD-50) but there is a price for flagship stuff. To answer if it is worth it remember one thing music is an extension of ourselves, we are always looking for a way to get more connected or make it more transparent. Do you need this? If you are looking for detail nuance, subtlety, feel, look no further .

Better than acoustic.

At last. Finally a drum kit that sounds just like a real acoustic set. But now you can control the volume and tweak each head. We use these in our church worship center and the loudness issues with the old drums are gone forever. Great job Roland!!

Totally happy

Fantastic response, nearly natural feel and awesome looks. Unbelievable solid construction. This thing is Wicked.

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
