Add Electronic Effects to Your Acoustic Cajon

I considered the Meinl Percussion Digital Cajon and the Roland ELCajon EC-10 Electronic Layered Cajon before purchasing this Roland ELCajon EC-10M Mic Processor.

The condenser mic clips unto any acoustic cajon. (I love the sound of my cajon, so I wanted to keep using it.) There are 16 electronic effect kits to choose from. With separate volume controls for acoustic and electronic, the sound can be all acoustic, all electronic, or any mix in between. Sometimes you want a lot of an electronic effect, sometimes just a little. Harder hits increase the volume. Adds a lot of fun to your existing cajon with increased volume, punch, and variation.

The video link talks about some important differences between the Roland EC-10 cajon and this Roland EC-10M mic processor.
Music background: I play cajon percussion in a small band.

No going back to just Cajon, after experiencing the Mojo of the Roland ELCajon pedal !

I've been using the EC-10M live for about two years now. It's super easy to use, just clip the combination mic/e-sensor on the rim of the cajon sound hole and plug the cable into the brain, adjust your "Threshold" balance which determines the crossover point between the sampled bass Voices & the sampled Treble Voices, and adjust the microphone level for your actual Cajon's voice to get a natural balance between them. It also has a mic Compressor built in that is really handy for controlling Feedback. Works like a charm and sounds Amazing Live. The hardware is rather lightweight, care must be taken not to step on the plugs on the brain box too hard, which i've done several times as it sits onstage at my feet, but still working fine so far. I will buy another one if it fails, no question. Roland really up'd my Cajon's Mojo, and i really can't complain about anything! I am not aware of ANY other product as of this writing that is in pedal form, as an addition to a Cajon that offers actual "Samples" of real instruments. With a little added Reverb and proper EQing, this unit sounds Great Live. It does several Cajon voices, some juicy African Percussion, a Fat Snare & even an Electronic Bass drum that THUMPS if you have a decent PA.

This thing is awesome!!

I am the pastor of a new church and our worship is an acoustic setting but our cajon want quite load enough . We are moving into a bigger building and have considered getting a drum set but didn"t want to lose that personal close campfire feel.

With that said , this mic processor is amazing! Who needs a drum set with this thing?!! Great product and very satisfied

This Roland processor Transforms a Cajone...

...from a "thud-box" to a "luv box" and makes the cajone "relevant" usable, and great fun. This procesor gives the Cajon a rich and full depth with a lot of options/sounds. It's a huge "trans-formation" and I love mine - now 3 days old. (Kudos to Sweetwater!. Now i see why so many people commend them in reviews - they make you feel like yours is the most important shipment ever.... and the personal phone call?.... nice!)
I thought I'd have to buy an amp but I plugged into my ION Block Rocker that I have never had much use for, using the karaoke standard mic-input and it now has a big full sound. It was a pleasant surprise that I owned a dual capability Bluetooth speaker that sounds great even when i use it for both streamed music and Cajon amp at the same time.I seldom used the ION but it'' get a workout from here on!
The Roland EC-10M makes the wooden box called a Cajon a viable and fun-to-play instrument, with it's clip-on mic, batteries option, it's portability and impressive sounds.
Very impressive and good. But not as impressive as another Roland. Roland Swenson co-founder of THE SXSW music fest in 1978, just 4 years after we both graduated class of '74 at Austin Reagan HS. He's impressive - and his product sounds very good. But it's not as portable....or is it?

Love it

This thing rocks! I was going to buy a mic alone for about the same price. Now I have a mic plus some great sounds I can use. It's a very cool unit. Four instead of five stars because you can't record your own sounds, you can't mix n match their sounds. Stuff like that. But the unit is very nice as is. Worth the money just for the mic.

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
