Rhythm Worksheet Generator
Make printable one-bar rhythms with eighth notes and rests, plus a separate counting key.
Ready to practice.
Answer and counting key
Each line is one 4/4 bar on a percussion staff. Filled noteheads mean play; eighth-rest symbols mean stay silent. Beams join two eighth notes within a beat. Count all eight slots continuously; parenthesized counts in the answer key are rests. Print can include or omit the key.
Instructions
- Choose Difficulty and the number of Exercises.
- Select Generate worksheet and read each one-bar rhythm.
- Use Print exercises for a clean sheet or Print with key for the counting answers.
Understanding the result
Every bar has eight eighth-note slots in 4/4. Noteheads mean play and rest symbols mean remain silent. Beams connect eighths within a beat. Count “1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and” continuously; parenthesized counts in the key identify the slots where you rest.
What to do if a line seems to have too few beats
Count rests as part of the bar rather than skipping them. Each eighth rest takes the same slot as an eighth note. Start with Foundation difficulty and clap the count before adding snare strokes; check the counting key afterward.
Summary
Practice the silence as carefully as the notes to keep the full bar steady.
